Sony Ericsson Xperia Pureness (X5), un móvil formato barra con teclado numérico, fue novedad al ser un prototipo de pantalla transparente de 1.8 pulgadas, 240 x 320 pixels monocromo. Para redes 2G GSM / GPRS / EDGE, y 3G UMTS / HSPA (HSDPA + HSUPA). Conectividad Bluetooth, USB, A-GPS, conector audio propietario. Un inconveniente de estos modelos es que no pueten tener nada detras de la pantalla, con lo que se reduce el espacio para las piezas que lo componen, y hacen imposible que se pueda ver en un smarphone de pantalla completa, siempre tiene que quedar un buen espacio para el hardware y la bateria. Sus funciones son limitadas, asi que no hay cámara de ningun tipo. Permite SMS, MMS, Email. Predicción de texto, reloj, temporizador, cronógrafo, despertador, tareas, guía telefónica, notas, modo vuelo, calendario, calculadora.
